Session 1: Building Resilience with Adaptogen and Immune Herbs - Friday, October 23rd - 4:00pm - 6:00pm CST Adaptogens are an amazing class of botanicals that support the body’s resistance to physical, environmental, emotional and biological stressors. They are often used to support patients suffering from fatigue and stress, which means their unique role in supporting immune health is often overlooked. In this session Professor Kerry Bone will explore the wide range of adaptogenic, adrenal tonic and immune supporting herbs, explaining their unique actions and where they are indicated to support patients to thrive in the ‘new normal’. Session 2: Insufficient Sleep: A Health Epidemic - Friday, October 23rd - 6:00pm - 8:00pm CST Good sleep is vital for good health – we simply cannot live without it. Healthy sleep helps restore the immune, nervous, skeletal, and muscular systems; maintaining mood, memory, and cognitive function and many other body processes. It’s estimated that up to 80% of Americans have trouble sleeping at least once a week with 33% suffering most nights, plus over 40% of Americans report feeling sleepy during the day. (1) In this presentation Amanda will discuss the science of sleep, common sleep disorders and the key health issues caused by insufficient sleep. She will outline her clinical and botanical strategies, including patient cases. Session 3: Botanicals for Mood in the New Normal - Saturday, October 24th - 4:00pm - 6:00pm CST The global events of this year have meant that many people’s mental health has been negatively impacted. Our ability to cope and adapt to the changes in our world, can determine the success of our future. Botanicals such as St John’s Wort and Kava have an impressive body of evidence supporting their use in common mood issues.  In this presentation Berris will look at common mental health issues and the evidence of how botanicals can help. Simple protocols illustrated by case histories will also be provided. Session 4: Mental Health for Pediatrics Change, uncertainty and disruption of routine can be frightening for children. In this presentation Angela will look at the impact of stress on the developing brain and will provide strategies to help children adapt and thrive in the new normal. Useful botanical protocols supported by research and clinical experience will be provided, including how to manage dosage and compliance.
